Monkey Masking TutorialThis Tutorial is a special request from my dear friend, Froggie (Michael) who has a wonderful photo gallery on Flickr, filled with fun and fantasy. visit FrogMuseum2's photo gallery. He wanted to know the best method for placing an animal head on a human's body. There are several ways this can be done, ie: to use the 'Clone Tool' or perhaps the 'Extract Filter' would also be an alternate method. However, one of the quickest methods that I prefer is the 'Masking Method', which is simple and fast. Step 1 Open an image that you would like to work with in Photoshop or another image software.
Step 2 Open a second image at the same time, by going to your 'File Menu' and choosing "Open".
Step 3 Using your "Select" tool, begin to drag the Monkey image directly into your People image. Or alternately, while in your Monkey image, go to your top Menu and press 'Select'. From the drop down menu, choose 'All', then press 'CRTL C' to copy the Monkey image. Now you can click back into your original People image and press 'CTRL V' to paste your monkey image, which will automatically be placed as a brand new layer on top of your People layer. When you do this, you may see the warning window, that is displayed in the image below. Don't let this worry you. This is a standard Photoshop window that is asking if you wish to convert the Monkey image to the Adobe RGB colors. Choose 'Convert' and press 'OK'.
